Our first harmful ingredient to watch out for in cleaning and personal care supplies is Triclosan. It is used in a lot of antibacterial soaps and hand sanitizers. It can affect male and female hormones by suppressing the thyroid.
Our second harmful ingredient to watch out for in cleaning and personal care supplies is Paraben. It is a preservative and germicide that is used in a lot of skincare products, lotions, creams, and deodorants. This chemical has been banned in Japan and Sweden.
Our third harmful ingredient to watch out for in cleaning and personal care supplies is Phthalate. It is found in prescription bottles, cleaners, make-up, lotions, body sprays, and deodorants. Phthalates are hormone disrupting chemicals (linked to early puberty in girls) that are already banned in Europe.

We chose the Young Living brand, because their Seed to Seal production of essential oils provides a quality product that our family can safely to clean, diffuse, apply topically or ingest*. Young Living will NEVER compromise their Seed to Seal quality promise. They would rather be in short supply of a given plant/oil than to market an inferior product.
*Not all essential oils can be ingested. Please make sure to read the directions on each bottle before using them internally.

These Young Living essential oil blends (Thieves, Purification & Citrus Fresh) all contain some of the recommended single essential oils.
In this recipe, use just enough hot water (at least 1 cup) to dissolve the borax (my Amazon affiliate link). Then add cool water, vinegar (too expensive on Amazon) and 10 drops of your favorite Young Living essential oil to fill up the rest of the bottle. If you are using a Citrus essential oil, it is not a bad idea to use a glass spray bottle (my Amazon affiliate link). Citrus oils can break down plastic over time. The biggest glass spray bottles comes in the 16-ounce size, so I would cut this recipe in half when using a 16-ounce bottle.

This recipe can be mixed up and placed in a recycled dishwasher detergent bottle or a mason jar (my Amazon affiliate link). Castile soap (my Amazon affiliate link) can be found at your local grocery store or on Amazon.
